Ingredients Per 2 Cups
Base Tea: Black tea leaves or Assam CTC tea
Caramel Element: Granulated white sugar (for caramelizing in the pan) or prepared caramel sauce/syrup
Dairy: Whole milk, full-cream milk, or evaporated milk
Water: Filtered water as the brewing liquid
Cinnamon: Sticks or ground bark for warmth
Cardamom: Crushed green cardamom pods.
Ginger: Fresh ginger slices or dried ginger powder.
Cloves: Whole cloves.
How to use
Make the Caramel: Put your sugar in a saucepan on low heat. Let it melt and turn a golden-brown or amber color without burning
Add Water and Spices: Carefully pour water into the caramel. Add your crushed ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. Let the mixture boil for 2 to 3 minutes so the spices release their flavors
Add Tea: Stir in your black tea leaves or tea bag. Boil for another 2 to 3 minutes until the tea is strong and dark
Pour Milk: Add the milk and bring the chai to a gentle boil. Simmer on medium-low heat for 2 to 3 minutes
